Saw it today in 3D. Amazing technical cinematic achievement, and some of the most beautiful film images I’ve ever seen, but AFAIC nothing underneath it. At the end of the film it becomes apparent that it could have happened, it could have not, who cares?

Maybe I was expecting something like Tree of Life, a film where the technical wizardry and glorious images have some substance to them.

As anything other than a technical exercise, wildly overrated.

I was totally blown away by it. (And that was on a small screen in 2D) Such a lovely movie.

I’m currently reading the book in preparation for watching the movie.

I am also curious about the film of another “unfilmable book” that is coming out soon. That is “Cloud Atlas”.
