Interesting that one of the first public outings by Roger Corbett after being made Chair of Fairfax Media will be to a function organised by Christian lobby and business groups.
On the 27 October, he will address a luncheon at Victoria’s Parliament House, organised by Australian Marketplace Connections, which:
exists to:
create a marketplace community focussed on releasing the Kingdom of God in our cities and towns.
The Vision statement of AMC is:
To see every Australian have at least one opportunity in their lifetime to work alongside someone who is a living letter of Jesus Christ to them (2 Cor 3:3).
In the promotional material for the lunch, Corbett is quoted as saying:
“One of the great tenets of life for me is to ‘Do unto others as you would have them do unto you’. I’m happy to say I’m a follower of Jesus Christ; have been all my life. I’m an Anglican and a regular churchgoer, practically every week. It means faith, assurance, direction, and a fundamental underwriting of what I think the word integrity means.”
UPDATE: A reader has sent me a link to the article from which this quote was taken. Written back in 2006, but an interesting insight into Corbett, his attitude to work, money, God, Woolworths and women.

Never understood how egregious god botherers like this also support things like work choices and screwing suppliers until they little better than peons. Does god only like you if you have a platinum Amex? He just another rich hypocrite like his mate Howard
