Architects are among the few artists who create, for me, a palpable sense that the future is here. I spotted an ad for this place while browsing the New York Times today. It’s an apartment building, and while the interior is sort of chilly and modish, the exterior cuts a most impressively disruptive figure on the New York skyline (if you can believe the artist mockups).
It was designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the same firm which imagined Beijing’s striking bird’s nest Olympic Satdium into being. And as Cubed points out, it also looks like a giant game of Jenga.

I love this building! This is my first feeling, then I look at the middle photo and start to worry about its ability to age, with grace of course.
No! I really do love it. Thank god architecture can be so ….? I dunno.
