Today we hate never-ending door alarms and the people who set them off, but we like these other things:
Church vanishes brick-by-brick. A church in Russia has completely vanished, Reuters reports. The church, located in an isolated area, appears to have been stolen, brick-by-brick, leaving only the foundations.
Mutating viruses to death. A study in the journal Physical Review E suggests that scientists may be able to develop drugs that mutate viruses out of existence, according to Science Daily. “In a nutshell, the idea is to design drugs that speed up the mutation rates of viruses and push them beyond a threshold called a ‘phase transition.’ The thermodynamic analogy for this transition is the freezing or melting of water — which amounts to a physical transition between water’s liquid and solid phases.”
Sydney, mashed-up. The ABC have mashed-up a Google Map of Sydney with their archives of historic video, audio, pictures and maps in a project called Sydney Sidetracks. You can download the whole thing for your mobile and go on an historic walking trip or just take a virtual tour from home. [via Lifehacker]
Puck you, America. Hit Australian comedy Summer Heights High made its US debut on HBO on Sunday, and the American critics have passed their judgement. Metacritic has a wrap of the reviews.
