Over at the “big” site we’re running a poll/competition to name Obama’s new puppy which will be heading to the White House come January.
First Dog and I collaborated to set this thing up — First Dog picked the ten best names from over 200 entries to create the finalists — and I set up the poll to count the votes.
Now First dog and I are big fans of the name “Ian”. We don’t know why, but we do. There’s something a little offbeat about the Presidential dog being called Ian. I dunno….
Anyway, I’m mortifed to see that currently the very clever “Karl Barx” is proving favourite among the punters — tracking some 23% of the popular vote.
If ther’s any hope for the Obama’s new dog to be called Ian — you, the people, need to help make it happen.

I liked crumpet the best. But we couldn’t have Ian AND crumpet. I wish I had called my dog crumpet instead of peanut.
I can’t help but think the wit of “Karl Barx” will be lost on the Obama youngsters, but perhaps Mom and Pop will consider it a good educational opportunity for the girls to begin learning about political science. That said, I’m pretty sure the wit would be lost on the Bush twins, too — and they’re 26.
aw dang. Mr Frisky didn’t get up (well….pun intended, weak at that) – self interest of course since it was my own entry.
Was there an output of the results? Did Trig go down like old yeller?
