Stuff we like: Buckstar Coffee and biking for Obama

Our favourite bit and bobs from around ‘teh interwebs’:

Recessionomics. How long will the recession last? asks Valleywag. 2009? 2010? 2011? Consumerist has some tips for making it through the tough times ahead.

Knock it off. A new shopping centre has been built in China dedicated to knock-off brands. Featuring such gems as Buckstar Coffee, McDnoald’s, Pizza Huh, KLG and Adidos.

What I did at summer camp… Foreign Policy has a photo essay from a training camp for Hamas militants. We suspect there’s no canoeing.

Dude a day. Atomic Toy is drawing a lovely cartoon character every day for a year. Our own First Dog is doing something similar.

Biking for Obama. “President Elect Barack Obama’s message of HOPE and PROGRESS has inspired one American to take on a monumental task of Biking across the country to further Inspire the entire nation to be the CHANGE they have desperately sought after”. Really? America elects a new leader and it makes you feel like a bike ride? I fail to see the connection, really. Anyway, that’s what this guy is doing. Call me a cynic (it wouldn’t be the first time), but I suspect he kind of just wanted to cycle across the US, and this was a convenient tie-in.
