We could all do with some cheering up today. Here are some things to distract you:
Spinal Tap are returning! After 16 years, Spinal Tap are reforming to record a new album. Freaking. Awesome.
Nerdy bento boxes. Bento boxes are pretty nerdy at the best of times — all neat and compartmentalised and colour-coordinated and such — but these ones take it to a new level. Wired interview the creator. I can’t imagine they taste very nice, but I’d probably eat this Where The Wild Things Are one just to ingest its awesomeness.
The bacon alarm clock. Bacon has become a weird Internet meme/obsession of late for some reason I don’t really understand, but I’m guessing is due to it being slightly subversive in the current “we’re all going to catch obesity and die” climate. Anyway, someone has created an alarm clock that actually wakes you up with cooked bacon.
Boardgame-to-movie adaptations. Gawker suggest five boardgames that could be made into movies.
Chinese Checkers
Logline: Set on the perilous North Korean border, Clive Owen stars in this searing political thriller about the daring maneuvers made when trying to smuggle North Korean defectors into glorious freedom.
My Little Pony mods. A flickr set of modified My Little Ponies, made to look like Batman, Jack Sparrow, Chewbacca, a stormtrooper and more.
