A photo of the “first spouses” of the G20 nations has surfaced, but two people are missing: the two male spouses (Germany and Argentina) of the international collective. At the same time, a photo of the newly formed Israeli cabinet was photoshopped by an ultra-orthodox newspaper to exclude the two female members. You Don’t Know Dick. Dick Smith Electronics is undergoing a face-lift. Prompted by owner Woolworths, Dick Smith’s seasoned grinning face will be retired for a less-than-perfect new logo and tag-line. Brand New examines the before and after shots.
Artificial Intelligence breakthrough. A computer program has figured out as much about the physics and geometry of a pendulum’s motion in a day as human scientists did in a century. The program is being called a “breakthrough for science” (but not for the supremacy of man). Wired reports.
