Live Tweeting from conferences is one of my favourite aspects of Twitter. Daily I can tap into live meetings/conferences or workshops around the globe and get a feel for the conversations and knowledge-sharing that is occurring. It’s ability to reach more people (esp. the right people) shouldn’t be underestimated. Any conference worth it’s salt should be investing in Wifi to enable live Tweeting/ blogging etc from their meetings and set a specific hashtag. For the health sector, using social media tools to extend the reach of messages is even more important as many of our workers are treating patients in hospitals or clinics and cannot afford the time to be away from them. Just as we no longer need to be at our desk to access the internet or social media tools, the same goes for meetings and conferences. We don’t physically have to be there to glean key messages and tap into the resources that are presented.
