So any random object in my house that isn't explicitly for 'fun' is 'for change' just because it could be used for something else, and that something might be change?

Games for Miscellaneous Purposes. Games where someone has articulated a benevolent intent. Games that identify a particular problem outside of gaming itself to address (besides boredom).

The last one might be the closest to a unifying theme for the conference, and if it had been pitched that way I might have been tempted to go.

Nice write-up, Dan! Sounds like it was a waste of space.

It baffles me why anyone would create a conference called "Games for Change" without having any idea what they mean by the word "change".

Wow, and that conference was $795 a head?

Sounds like many people who spoke didn't get the appeal of games ... this is a problem generally with the notion of using "gamification" to make people into happy little workbots.
