    My favourite Reg Varney moment you ask?

    In fact it had nothing to do with the chap himself but on Have I Got News For You back in the early 1990s (the far superior inspiration for the local Good News Week), Ian Hislop was answering a question about Winnie Mandela which led him to the immortal line: “Apparently she also upset her husband because while he was in gaol she had a number of lovers…. [long pause] … among them, Reg Varney.”

    Personally I was more a Love Thy Neighbour man mesself.
