A little amazing to see the total suspension of disbelief in the Australian press, with even the crusty ideo-warriors at the Oz grounding arms to applaud seemingly quite rapt. This truly does seem to be a moment, one that gives a new and suddenly hopeful context to our own slightly deflated, verbose and meanly thin-lipped stab at regime change. We shall all see won’t we. But it might be that with a will, intelligence and due, uncynical diligence …

    Do you mean : can the bitter variety of commercial journalism retain its audience?

    I was wondering yesterday what the media will do, after realising the world is *so* screwed up, that we (they, you!) have to believe in fixing it, “neighborhood by neighborhood” as says The One.

    I do wonder that Dan. It’s quite possible that the times will demand all manner of new thinking, perhaps less focus on means and the immediate
    and more on the ends and just where they might take us.
