I certainly wont be renewing my subscription to ‘The Monthly’. Losing Gideon Haigh is bad enough but the new editor needed to be someone who could edit Manne. Talent to write does not guarantee that you have the talent to edit.

The age of the new editor will only become relevant if the quality of ‘The Monthly’ declines even further.

Agree with Mr Christie. Your comments are nothing more than the usual put-down of young people. Maybe he should be clubbing, dropping ees, catching STD’s and maybe stealing cars. Then he might conform to your stereotype of young people. I would have expected better from Crikey. And I am aged 45 thank you.

There’s a creepy benevolence to the Manne, Schwartz appointment tinged with swat-back and folly. At this rate Ben’s meteoric rise from playground conkers to literary journalist, broadcaster and Monthly Moshiach should have on the east end of Fleet Street by Hanukkah.
