No matter what you call it, both photos are symptomatic of the fact that we are not treating our soils as a resource to be protected. If ecologically sustainable development measn anything in relation to food production it means: do not leave soil bare at any time, do not use artificial fertlizers, do not use chemical sprays, match your farm plan with the climate zone you are in (and soon to be in with climate change), and use biochar. Such a formula, appropriately applied would reduce considerably the chance sof such scenes being ever repeated.
While scarcely on the same scale as the above mentioned horrors, I have noticed twice last month my car to be covered with Mallee dust and drops of water.
