President Obama and the First Jet

In the early hours of tomorrow morning Eastern Australian Daylight time the specially modified Boeing 747-200 jet becomes one of the more visible components of the exceptional communications and logistics support that surrounds, some say, isolates another American president, on the day that an African-American takes that office in the capitol precinct build substantially on the leased labor of black slaves.

    The last time Air Force One was in Australia was in September 2007, when President Bush came in for the APEC summit in Sydney. In 2003, Air Force One was in Canberra, when Prime Minister John Howard hosted President Bush for a lunch at the Lodge.
