It’s time for Singapore Airlines to deal as directed with serious allegations of illegal price fixing in Australia

Singapore Airlines has lost a critical legal challenge to the powers of the ACCC to investigate allegations that it participated in cartel like behaviour in fixing certain air freight surcharges in concert with other carriers including Qantas.

A lay definition of cartel like behaviour is to conspire with other enterprises to rob customers of the benefits of competition.

The ACCC statement is published below in full.

    Hi Ben,

What happened to the post you wrote yesterday linking to the obituary for George Roberts in the SMH? It seems to have disappeared from the site.

    Cheers,
    Julien.

    Hi Julien,

Discovered that the report I linked to was five weeks old. For some reason the SMH carried an obit which told me the news I had missed while away. Was sorry to hear of George’s death, he was a wonderful bloke with clear memories of the entire QANTAS story, and also sorry to learn that I had not honoured him in a timely manner.
