A380 wings cracks, an illustrated guide

Doric Asset Finance has posted an illustrated guide to the A380 wing cracks issues on its website.

It comes with a useful summary of the situation, and anticipates more airworthiness directives in relation to the second type of crack.

    Great find Ben,
    for once something tangible.
Do you have any idea how the ribfoot boom is attached to the actual rib ?

A wing assembly youtube video shows some wing skin attachment points are created as part of the rib while others have those “L” brackets attached to the ribs as “rib feet booms”

See video at 1:06 for skin to rib join and black fuel tank sealant with “T” rather than “L” attachment points.
See: 6:52 for integrated skin/rib attachment points and also “rib feet booms” attached via fasteners (also with black fuel tank sealant). Also, two of the wing spars are clearly shown.
Notches in either the ribs or the booms leave room for stringers.
