Is Tiger inept or conscientiously tricky in trying to get passengers to forfeit a cheap fare and buy a more costly arrangement?
This is an email sent to a reader by his daughter about her friend Hannah’s experience with Tiger in Adelaide yesterday. Our reader has also complained about Tiger here in the past.
Hi Daddy,
Here [...]

Today’s bad press on Tiger raises the question, why shouldn’t consumer protection laws force all airlines to promptly refund fares and pay compensation when they strand passengers and force them to pick up the tab for hotel rooms, meals and other incidentals?
There is no justification for Tiger taking up to two months to compensate [...]

This year my family has ditched Tiger, Jetstar and Virgin Blue for domestic flights on a regular basis because, on a good day, the extra charges for breakfast, dinner, and especially a checked bag, erode the difference between them and Qantas.
There are of course bad days, when Qantas wants $100, even $200 more for [...]

Early this week Crikey was given the sort of tip off that can lead to very ugly scenes at check-in, and especially when school holidays and capacity cutbacks by carriers mean seats are hard to get.
On Friday night the 2 Oct a Qantas board member Patricia Cross and her husband and 3 children departed [...]

Another lesson as to how airlines can turn an ‘act of God’ into added misery, filed by one of yesterday’s victims.
There are times when even the most generous spirit cannot forgive the
bastard that is Qantas and its devil child, Jetstar.
Yes, I know the great dust storm caused havoc to flight schedules up and
down the east [...]

A frustrated parent lodged a comment today on an earlier post about flying on Tiger with a baby seat. It is an issue that surely merits a new entry here.
I’m to fly Tiger at the moment with an infant, very confusing. The above infant baggage allowance [discussed on Plane Talking on 22 April] [...]

Good morning,
This one is probably small game after some of the hideous complaints of other flyers. But I thought I would share it anyway.
I’m a 20-something Tasmanian heading off on his first major overseas trip and, after looking at flights to Heathrow, decided on booking with Etihad Airways. For booking, I was using my credit [...]

From the latest subscriber editions of Crikey, good and bad things about the flying kangaroo.
Qantas diaries 1: Qantas Frequent Flyer disloyalty … I have a friend who had been flying Qantas almost exclusively for the past 15 or so years. Some years he got “free” Qantas Club when he flew enough, some years he didn’t [...]

A Crikey reader filed this report and the photos:
Jetstar flight from Adelaide to Melbourne on Saturday 22 August ,
depature to be 3:30.
At the end of the pushback from the gate the plane
stayed put for longer than usual, then the captain advised us all that
due to a large amount of hydaulic fluid on the ground [...]
Tiger recently announced it was appointing customer service officers and making itself accountable and accessible to the travelling public.
How then can it explain this complaint involving the deliberate misleading of a passenger, and his then being stranded, at Canberra on Tuesday night?
Since when is offering low cost airfares an excuse for misleading conduct resulting in [...]
