Hiscutt has a webpage at http://www.vote1paulhiscutt.com/ and has a letterbox card out. He is, significantly, endorsed by former member for the abolished seat of Newdegate (which included much of what is now Wellington) Ross Ginn, but not only do such endorsements not always transfer support to a great degree but Ginn was not an overwhelmingly popular local member anyway. (Indeed, Ginn, unusually for a Legislative Councillor, won two out of his three victories from behind on primaries.) I suspect Hiscutt will poll reasonably but without being a major threat.

A Stephen Roomes ran for Huon in 1996 and scored 4.58% (also in a six person field).

Since the name is not common I assume it is the same individual. However, in ten years time a person can learn a lot, so I wouldn't necessarily take this as a sign that he will do no better this time. However, if he isn't making the local media then that is suggestive.

I'm glad you've helped me nip that one in the bud, Simon - I was actually citing the figure for Rowallan.

The last Wellington election was in 2000, where the Greens received 28% of the vote pushing the Libs into third place and taking Labour to preferences in a 3-candidate race.
