Back to the start of this thread. I live in Stirling. Michael Keenan has only been interested in "local" issues - potholes in roads, graffiti, cops on the beat - since he was elected in 2004, so this ad is nothing new. I will be very surprised if Labor doesn't pick up Stirling this time. It is a seat that has swung back and forth over many years. Libs won in '96, Labor in '98 and '01, Libs in '04, and only by 2%. Take away the Latham factor and interest rate scare tactics and that margin disappears. Labor candidate Peter Tinley is an ex SAS major now running his own business, Keenan has only worked in his family real estate business and as a party staffer. Stirling is a seat targeted by the ACTU Your Rights at Work campaign and GetUp so there is a lot of community activity below the radar. Keenan also managed to p*ss off the Ethnic Communities Council by personally abusing the president of the Council over a forum they were trying to organise. If there is any sort of swing on Keenan is gone, but won't be missed.

Wonderful stuff, Fletch! The smart money put down the binoculars a couple of months back. From here to E-Day it's just a question of; how well contructed is the Coalition's Firewall? ( cf. Possum archives)

I’m talking to a lot of pissed off swinging voters who really hate Nicole. The Advertiser has really done a hatchet job on her.

And you've fallen for it. Go and talk to Cornes. You may be surprised. To find out where she's campaigning email Nicole.Cornes@alp.org.au or ph: 0431 147 716.

Even if she's twice a stupid as you believe, she'd still be a genius compared to the dickhead who'll be relected in Mayo :(

Has anybody noticed how the betting on the marginal seats Labor needs to win are not in line at all with the betting on the overall election.

The hard copy edition of the Daily Tele runs a straight head on Farr's "sorry" story: "Defining moment in PM's sorry saga - Mortgagees don't rate an apology."

Seems that other nonsense was just the online version.

CL de Footscray Says:
November 8th, 2007 at 11:16 pm
Broadband is a massive issue everywhere - even in inner Melbourne, where, by the way, it’s fairly sh$#e. It’s like building railways last century. For business poeple it’s a serious big deal. Not to mention education.

Where I used to live (before SW Sydney) was in Kensington. I could walk to Arden Street over the train lines and watch North at training. We were able to get wonderful Broadband there. It was Optus and we were annoyed at the limits on monthly downloads, but that was our choice due to the cost of the various programs. Service in and of itself was readily available. What parts of the inner city aren't wired, CL?
