Sky News and Seven exit polls: 53-47

Sky News exit poll has Labor leading 53-47. That’s in 31 selected marginal seats. Apparently it suggests 54-46 overall. Howard trails 53-47 in Bennelong. Labor 58-42 ahead in Eden-Monaro.

UPDATE: Channel Seven exit poll says 53-47 nationally, 53.5-46.5 in Bennelong, 8 per cent swing to Labor in Bass, 6 per cent swing in Braddon.

The trouble is vast numbers of people esp in Qld and WA are STILL VOTING.. This could have a negative effect on voting in those places..

Real or dodgy, this should certainly help the vote in those lineball WA seats. It’s much better, pork wise, to have a government member as your MP.

Greeting all from sunny Johannesburg. I have been waiting 11 long years for this day (like a few others) – am about to fire up abc coverage. Anticipating 80 seats, hoping for 85 and dreaming of 90 – exit polling sounds encouraging. Wonder if we’re in for a UK 97 style evening?

Qld/NSW should tell us plenty and hopefully earlyish…

Brissonden on ABC news just said that the Libs think they are in deep deep trouble in NSW.

Queues 500-600 deep at polling booths and they think that doesn’t bode well.

15 minutes to the count :)
