Democratic voters in West Virginia will today elect 28 delegates by some method or other. I can’t be bothered looking into it because the New York Post reports that Hillary Clinton is “toast”, and papa says, “if you see it in the Post, it’s so”.

Oh, and just as a follow-up to me comment at 1149 I should have mentioned that in Alaska during the primary Obama got 75% and Clinton got 25%.
GG, [1441, The ultimate, being criticised by the “Walter Mitty” of this blog. Someone so sure of their political views, they need multiple personalities to explain them to themselves] – a bull’s-eye, if i ever see one.

1441,
The ultimate, being criticised by the “Walter Mitty” of this blog. …
……
No problem, GG. Anytime, really. Think nothing of it. I like cliches. They are part of a balanced diet. They are not as good as a really fresh new idea, but hackages such as yours are easy to consume and offer a bit of roughage, even if they are nutrient-poor.
Growler and Finns- I have disagreed with you both from the outset of this race – you supported hillary and I didn’t – I have no problem with that bit. It’s just that knowing your views from the previous election (anti-Howard and all that he stood for), I am honestly puzzled at your undying and uncritical support of a woman who supported the invasion of Iraq, and then went on to show herself to be liar and “just another politician” to the extreme, even going so far as to appeal to theinate racism and anti-muslim fears of the ill-informed and ignorant, which neither of you are.
So, my frustration is increasing, as she is so far from credible as a possible nomination fro numerous reasons, and your choices will be Obama or McCain -and I just can’t understand why you are so loathing of him.
….is tempted to drop his shorts, turn round and promote is own bullseye in your general direction, finnwit.
And Grinch- as for tha accusation of hypocricy – I have not changed my political views one iota since strating to post on PB – it is you and Finns among others who have appeared to support what is clearly a conservative agenda, having canned it during our election.
That, my friend is hypocritical.
(sorry about the crap typing- not even had a glass of wine yet . I might do so, to see if it improves).
Jen, I don’t understand it either. GG, especially, was scathing of so-called “Howard Huggers” last year who were justifying Howard’s dog-whistling, race-based, bomb-bomb politics. Now he is justifying Hillary’s use of similar strategies, and has also hitched himself to the rotting corpse, just as the Howard Huggers did with Howard last year.
GG and Finns have become the Glen and ESJ of 2007.
Whatever the reason, it clearly has nothing to do with principles or integrity.
offers jen a case of cab-sav. you may need more than a glass…
sauv-blanc, elite – first one already gone.
I suspect that GG and Finnwit are closet Lathamites – or even worse, Hansonistas without a home.
cheers, jen, helping myself to a latte….
sips leftwards
Latte?
yuk. Strong flat white, double shot.
I must be a republican…OMG. Having another glass.
Finns – if you are disappointed in me I can only express my profound despair that you and Growler have sold out your principles. I thought we had solidarity over anti-war and uncalled for aggression. Can’t find it I’m afraid.
It’s purely cosmetic, jen. i don’t enjoy it, but it matches the colour of my politics, apparently….(taking another sip to the left…)
ummm..time to cook up a curry for the butterfly family…see you!!
don’t buy the latte-sipping crap. Implies we are soft – not so.
well, i’m prepared to swallow some latte, providing i can dip GG’s cliches in the froth and stir in a spoon of irony…..but give me a short black for zing…seeya….)
put lots of chilli in the curry. Show ‘em what you’re made of Big Fella.
#1465 – [I thought we had solidarity over anti-war and uncalled for aggression] – have faith in your fellow hitch hikers to the universe..

I’ve only just realised that 538.com is in fact Poblano, one and the same.
Slow, or what?)
Not really, Kirri, it’s just the way they dress you!
OK Finns-
I’ll trust you, but you need to clarify.
How could you support someone who stood for everything you said you disagreed with?
1418
Jen
No Jen, they want their Mommy, or Nurse Ratchet, or someone who’ll smack their naughty bottoms and tell them which countries to invade, WHEN SHE TELLS THEM.
Fortunately the adults have decided for themselves that they actually want something else, but the kiddies just have to chuck a tantrum about it.
Typical.

The Hillary Clinton fans on this site pretty much followed what Adam Carr told them.
Once he made the rather dubious claim that she was the best candidate and would win on Feb 5th, they’ve been trying to justify her losing ever since.
These people do not think for themselves, nor risk an opinion that is not sanctioned by some ‘expert’ because they have neither the the nous nor the cojones to make a different case from the conventional ‘wisdom.’
Some of us here actually challenged the notion that Clinton would win, that she was the ’strongest’ candidate, and Obama would fall by the wayside under her relentless onslaught of victories.
We did that BEFORE he was winning!
Don’t bother wasting your time on pussies Jen, they just say what they are told to say, and then come on all tough and abusive when you point this out.
#1473 – Simple, if he can prove that he CAN win in Nov. So far, it is only a hope. Give hope to the birds and the bees.
Noocat I agree with your Howard huggers v Hillary supporters analogy, but from my point of view the Hillary supporters have been worse and much more personally insultive and abusive. And in some ways it was more understandable that Howard huggers would attack, but as far as Hillary supporters, they are (presumably) from the same party which makes it less acceptable.
And havent they followed Hillary’s lead beautifully
Kirribilli-
I am not throwing insults. These guys- Finns and Growler- have been on the same side as us at one point. I want to know why the change.
At times, as much as I love and indulge in the parrying and swordfighting here, I am remided that this is a serious business. Whoever is elected as POTUS will have enormous influence as to what happens next -to all of us, Americans or not. So I want to understand why we descend (I incude myself) into a slanging match like football supporters.
And I wonder whether it isn’t that facing the reality of what lies ahead is just too hard.
I’d hate to be Obama taking this mess on. But I think he is our best chance at sorting out – or at least starting the process.
And I’m tired of being characterised as some kind of indecisive left, latte -sipping tragic.
I’m not.
Jen why bother about them? Dont read or reply to their posts. I have done it for a few days and i promise you’ll feel better immediately
KR. I remember when Gaye Waterhouse stated ” you can bet on our horses with confidence” at a race meet. I did not punt but took note on how her nags faired at the meet & I’m glad I kept my cash in the pocket.
Its sort of the same thing with Adams call too & in a way I had hoped Hills would pull through as I thought Obama was a “flash in the pan” phenomenon. More skin than substance. Its still to bee seen how the presidential race will go but put it this way Barak or Hillary would be far superior to McCain & would gladly “back any of them with confidence”!
Andrew- ther are some here that I will absolutely not bother with.
However Finns, Groler and i go back a long way now, and I like them . So I am trying to move beyond my disappointment and try and understand why we have come to be adversaries.
I suspect we are a micro-example of what must be happening in the US among democrat supporters. Ignoring each other won’t help.
bugger- the 3rd glass isn’t helping with my typing.
I’ll try a 4th and see if that does.
Groler (sic)… you know I mean Grinch.
Andrew, you’re probably right, but why? Either Hillary brought out the worst in her supporters… or attracted that type in the first place. Either way, I’m glad she won’t be president because it’s an indication of the direction the U.S. and the world would have gone under her stewardship.
exactly Noocat-
more of the same.
It certainly seems that her supporters have taken on her sense of entitlement and sheer ruthlessness in her campaign, but Howard had the same characteristics didnt he
Independence of thought is now forbidden by edict.
You must think, talk and act like an Obamabot to be acceptable.
How sad?
Presumably people who supported Heavy Kevvie in 07 are allowed to have an opinion re BHO in 08 which does not conform with blanket support?
The ultimate is those who want to close their mind off to any thought that is different to their prejudice by going down the ignore their posts approach. Somewhat like chanting in a corner to drown out other noise. No doubt many people on the Titanic thought oh its unsinkable nothing to worry about go back to sleep.
This might be shocking for some but the election wont be decided on the editorial views and reporting of WAPO,NYT and Salon. Not unlike Australia, the intangibles, the look and feel which we in Australia have little way of gauging (other than opinion polls) will be a large factor.
Kirri 1475
“Don’t bother wasting your time on pussies Jen, they just say what they are told to say, and then come on all tough and abusive when you point this out.”
Now its lewd talk Kirri? What next a pay per view web-site?
Jen, at least you can take comfort in the contest being Obama vs. McCain rather than Clinton vs. McCain.
The Clinton supporters will have to come around eventually. There is a point when the fantasy of her being POTUS comes crashing down, if it hasn’t already. Then, they will need to decide – hate Obama to the point of supporting McCain or join the rest of us in supporting the possibility of REAL change.
I would have still supported Clinton as a lesser of two evils, but at least with Obama, I can actually get excited about the election, and be motivated to do all I can to help, even if it is only in a small way…
Edward- it had to be you.
Jen,
As you very well know, the call of hypocrisy against you was because you openly and selectively criticise other posters “abusive” comments, yet freely abuse others who dare to disagree with you. Somehow, that is different and excusable in your little world. I think psychologists call it cognitive dissonance. (You only see, read and hear what you want).
You asked for examples of your abuse and today’s atrocities were provided. I notice with hilarity your desire to now change the subject (as usual), generalise the smear and flood the blog with multiple posts of inanity.
To be sure, I am not sensitive about this because I give as much as I receive and don’t recoil from anything that I have written. Obviously my comments cut through against a few of the precious, precious ones here.
Frankly, your hypocrisy doesn’t concern me one way or the other. But, it is impossible to take your hysterical rantings as serious political comment. You and I might agree about some things. But, maybe they are just intersections in the great Venn Diagram of life.
Cheers.
Andrew @ 1487,
Nearly all successful politicians have “sense of entitlement and sheer ruthlessness”. Not only the ones that are to the right of you.
Some news from the campaign back rooms – fund raisers from both sides are talking together. One of the interesting comments in the article is the pressure from the Clinton camp for Obama to appoint a Clinton supporter as VP.

Andrew,
You are like the “whiskey” priest of PB. An blogoholic who buys a bottle of plonk every night to prove they can resist temptation. You then proceed to gulp every drop and spend the whole next day feeling guilty about your personal failure. Sad, sad little man.

Catrina
Clinton has a small 20 million dollar problem to solve first.
Obama will get who he wants or she’s out of pocket.
Simple really.
Like the man said: “There are two important things in politics, and the first one is money, but I can’t remember what the second one is.”
I’m going to stick up for Finns, GG, ESJ and Ron here. They give as good as they get against great odds and this blog would be a barren place without them (I’ve considered switching sides a couple of times just to support them but, guys, it’s Hillary we’re talking about, I just couldn’t live with myself).
Neither side has a mortgage on scruples, rational posts, intelligent commentary or the high moral ground.
GG @ 1492
You’re not quite right on the psychology bit. “Cognitive dissonance” is the unpleasant feeling you get when your beliefs conflict with the facts. One way of reducing cognitive dissonance is to ignore facts that are contrary to your self-image.
Don’t worry Andrew, old Gruffy has been taking wild swings at people on blogs for as long as I’ve been around.
That’s what he does. Although he likes to have some moral support (if you could call it that! LOL) in the likes of Eddy, Finn or Ron.
Yep, he’s a real big tough guy!
If ya get scared of pussies that growl in packs, that is.
KR,
I have you jumping for sure. You can’t seem to make a comment without a disparaging shot.
Too bad you are firing blanks.
You’ll never get me off the reservation at this pace.
Cheers.
Diogenes,
Thanks for the kind words and additional info.
KR will obviusly want you retrained.
Cheers.
