Reflections on the Miracle of Democracy at Work in the Greatest Nation on Earth

Kentucky fried Clinton

Democratic primaries will be held Wednesday our time in Oregon and Kentucky, which will respectively choose 52 and 51 delegates. Below is another race associated with the latter state, which this year ended with runner-up Eight Belles having to be put down*. Does the knackers’ yard beckon for a certain second-placed Democratic nag? Discuss.

* Unfortunately for my metaphor, Clinton in fact holds a handy 30.5 per cent lead in Kentucky, according to Real Clear Politics. Obama however leads by 12.4 per cent in Oregon.

GG, even if that were to happen, the popular vote is not the decider. It’s delegates.

So, I seriously doubt that Team Obama are concerned. Their whole strategy from the beginning was to secure a majority of delegates. That is the way the game is currently set up, and the way it currently needs to be played. And Team Obama have been very successful in this…

It appears that Hillary needs 80% of remaining delegates to win. Does any Hillary supporter truly believe this is going to happen, and if so, how, particularly given the SDs are overhelmingly breaking Obama’s way. If not, why are we still discussing this as if it’s an ongoing contest?

    Noocat,

With the support of the SDs there is still an opportunity there for her to win.

However, more importantly, I believe the process to allow 35-40 million Democratic supporters to vote for their nominee is exciting. I just want to see the process play out (another thing I have been consistent about).

It’s been fun getting to expose their facial rubbish, but I’m leaving it to other now, since they bore me beyond belief. In fact I just skim down the page and do not even bother to pay attention to their silly posts. They ain’t about anything except picking fights, and NEVER have been.

Ron, on the other hand, is just a deluded puppy with a very funny way of expressing things.

Soon, Noocat, soon, we can get on to Obama V McCain, and no doubt the usual suspects will be backing McCain for all they’re worth.

GG, nothing is official until the convention, even for McCain. This is why we talk about the presumptive nominee.

Obama is the presumptive nominee because, like McCain, the possibilities of an event occurring that would stop him from being officially declared are exceptionally rare, and that includes superdelegates going against the winner of the pledged delegates.

    Definitely looking forward to that!

But if they do back McCain, it will only be to undermine their reasons for supporting Hillary in the first place. GG, Finns, and Ron have been cheering for Hillary because they believed she will give the Democrats the best chance of beating the Repugs in Nov.

So, if they really do want the Republicans beaten, then they will naturally support Obama.
