just rated the helpfulness of the VEC website page 1 out of 5, I know the numbers would still all be zero but they should have booths up by now. Not always predisposed to whinging but VEC seem to have least helpful site of all states.
As a Melbourne CBD resident I think the CBD booth might be a little unpredictable, because people might choose to vote in one of the other booths in the seat. The wife and I this morning caught the tram to North Melbourne, had breakfast at a cool hipster cafe, then walked to the local primary school to vote for the Greens. Yes, we did remark at the time that we felt like a pair of inner-city stereotypes, and should probably have ridden there on a fixie to complete the picture.
Anyway, it occurred to me that a number of other city residents might have preferred to do the same sort of thing, rather than queue in the drab corridors of Victoria Uni.
Kate Borland might come last. Surname is uninspiring. Independent who didn’t respond to a climate policy questionaire. But I’m in Bali, so its distant guess…
Michelle Grattan has decided that they have, so what they say doesn’t matter.
I thought you liked Grattan? What caused the falling out?
According to that robopoll, 70% said federal factors would play a part in their decision:
The poll also reported that 70% would be influenced one way or the other by the performance of the federal government, and that 50% expressed opposition to the Baillieu government’s East West Road Tunnel project against 28.3% who supported it.
low turn out is good for labor

And Stephen Mayne will be wishing to personally inspect ever ballot paper that does not have him at No 1.

NEWSFLASH!
There has been a leadership challenge!!! William Bowe is taking on Antony Green for the position of leader of the psephological universe!
https://twitter.com/PollBludger/status/226596934943666176
It hardly seems fair for such a challenge to take place while Mr Green is on a bike somewhere in Europe.
BUT THAT’S POLITICS!
by ShowsOn on Jul 21, 2012 at 6:57 pm
Has anyone asked the electors whether they considered federal issues in their choice here?
by This little black duck on Jul 21, 2012 at 6:58 pm
Antony’s work on NSW state electoral history ( at the parliament site) is breath-taking

Presumably the main low turnout factor is Liberal voters not turning up.
This may or may not be good for the ALP.

Tom – That may be the case and it will be interesting to look at which booths see the lower turnout.

Très profond Pseph. In the words of Dan Kelly; “The bad stuff’s coming when the good do nothing it’s true…”

Dan Kelly, as in Ned Kelly’s brother?

@mexicanbeemer, Adrian Whitehead is my tip to be first eliminated.

My scrutineers confirm William’s view that the count is proceeding slowly because of the large ballot papers.

While you’re all waiting for the results, here’s an article by Nick Dyrenfurth that gives the Greens/Labor battle a historical context.

I have just voted the VEC site as very unhelpful – they state the results are interim results, but look at them:
