BludgerTrack: 50.1-49.9 to Coalition

A slight lead in Nielsen, together with the fading effect of weak results a few weeks back, finds the Coalition squeaking ahead on two-party preferred for the first time this year.

This week’s lead to the Coalition in Nielsen, together with a particularly bad result for Labor from Essential, has given the Coalition a two-party lead in the weekly BludgerTrack poll aggregate for the first time this year, albeit by the barest of margins. This represents a considerable move on last week’s result, which equally reflects the fading effect of Labor’s 54-46 and 53-47 leads in Newspoll and ReachTEL three to four weeks ago. With the electoral terrain favouring the Coalition, a fairly comfortable majority is recorded on the seat projection, with four coming off the Labor gains from Queensland since last week, together with two each from New South Wales and Victoria and one each from Western Australia and Tasmania. A new set of leadership figures is provided by Nielsen, which maintains the slowly narrowing trajectory on preferred prime minister and slightly lifts both leaders on net satisfaction.

Guytaur, when a family member’s life hangs in the balance on the skill and judgement of a medical professional one naturally expects our community will ensure that only the best and the brightest get to exercise that judgement.

Not only that, we expect that the best and the brightest are subject to close scrutiny, regulation and peer review. I have zero confidence in Campbell Newman’s commitment to that goal. I hope he suffers big time at the next election.

The Russian propaganda is that all (or at least the vast majority) its Ukrainian opponents are fascists. This is untrue. It is however that there are right-wing anti-Russian elements, including Sovboda, who are part of the movement against Russia and that Sovboda is in the provisional government. The majority of the provisional governmenr and its supporters are however more liberal elements in favour of free speech and opposed to corruption.

Anyway it seems the stupidity of the USA and Europe in continuing to pursue an encircling of Russia strategy with their engineered coup in Ukraine (there US TPTB phone calls that reveal this truth… cost $5bn+)….will lead to a weakening of the US and Europe by pushing Russia closer to China and Asia. Also as always…conflicts with foe of some sort always boosts home popularity (aka Howard/Bush war on terror).

Thus Putin’s domestic support grown significantly…whilst Obama heading towards the mire as the US people petty much sick of old US waring games.

If it is true that they are about to sign an energy deal…also ex USD….with China….an inevitably cause Russia to share more military capability with China…the US strategy has and will have negative effects..

You would think the strategy of bringing Russia inside the tent would have been better, especially as a guard against China’s growing power.

This East-West Link is an example of complete planning breakdown from the Napthine govt. Yesterday the guide dog centre was opened by a Fed govt minister who mouthed platitudes about a solution.

Asked about $1.5 billion Canberra will give Victoria to help build the road, and whether it would be dependent on the new centre being saved, Senator Fifield said Vision Australia was working with the Napthine government to find a solution.

''The East West Link is a terrific project and this training and breeding facility is also a great project. I have no doubt that Vision Australia and the authorities will be able to work through to a good solution,'' Senator Fifield said.

He acknowledged the East West Link was receiving funding from the Abbott government, but said the new tollway was a needed for Melbourne. ''It's important that we have this facility and it's also important that we have the East West Link and it's good that both the authority and Vision Australia are talking the issues through.''

    Good Morning

Regarding Sinodinos. We have an example of the federal Liberals not learning.

All you have to do is compare and contrast with how the NSW Liberals dealt with Hartcher et al.

They also should know how that fails due to their attacks on Labor they have done themselves.

Then there is the look a unicorn approach relying on a compliant media. Of course what should be obvious is that ICAC is not a compliant media. Its a body the media will not ignore because at a minimum the public is aware of it due to Liberals using its evidence to attack Labor. Also of course due to media rightly focusing on what corruption bodies unearth.

Its as I said earlier. The federal Liberals seem to be treating this as if its a Senate inquiry where they can confuse by crying its politics. Its smear etc.
