Well as a South Aussie Lefty, I for one don't care in the slightest for this Mike-go panthers-Rann sex 'scandel'. There are plenty of genuine reasons to oppose his governing (Authoritarian Police State powers & water, etc) but this means nothing. I don't even care if it did happen in his office. What's the difference between having sex and other forms of recreation he could do in his office during business hours?
I am not the target of this campaign though, none of us on PB are. We are into politics and so care more about policy and ideology than personality. Most voters though don't care about or understand politics, instead they use the lodgic "if he's a good bloke then he'll do the right thing by us". In the US, campaigns barely even discuss policy because personality gets/loses votes much more. I'm not totally sure about this but I suspect that swing voters tend to be reasonbly uninterested in politics. Very different to us PB rusted-ons. Therefore these pot shots could effect the very demographic that decide elections! Nevertheless, I still remember talking to a yobbo Liberal voter when the Rudd Scores episode unfolded and for him it was a definate plus for Rudd: "He used the excuse that he was too drunk to remember the strip club: you absolute legend!". Likewise some wouldn't hold this against Rann: he got bashed and had sex in his office, that's it.

Oops, Beazley I mean.

The polls showed the Coalition ahead after the introduction of Workchoices.

Gee that must have meant Workchoices was popular!

[Individuals keep telling us what a great job Rudd’s doing with boatpeople, and every poll in the country is telling us that a majority of Australians think the Labor Government is doing a great job.]

Sounds like Workchoices under Crean.

Keep it up though, the head in the sand routine never works out come election time.

[Medibots: The world's smallest surgeons

This is a da Vinci robot. It has allowed a surgeon, sitting at a control desk, to remove the patient's prostate gland in a manner that has several advantages over conventional methods. Yet the future of robotic surgery may lie not only with these hulking beasts but also with devices at the other end of the size spectrum. The surgeons of tomorrow will include tiny robots that enter our bodies and do their work from the inside...]

TP
[Greenland ice loss behind a sixth of sea-level rise]

The Lib gang of 13 is on the wrong horse, but can't get off. Have a look at the the "Third Pole" - the Himalayan glaciers' melt rate and see what else is in store for an 'enhanced liquid environment'. One small consolation from their wilfull ignorance is that most of the 13 should still be alive when denial becomes impossible in the face of the reality. Nothing will save them then.

[Greenland ice loss behind a sixth of sea-level rise
GREENLAND lost 1500 cubic kilometres of ice between 2000 and 2008, making it responsible for one-sixth of global sea-level rise. Even worse, there are signs that the rate of ice loss is increasing.]
