Despite all the excitement about Palin, especially from the conservative press here (like they’d have a clue – they’re still waiting for the post Brian Burke bounce and the post budget bounce and the post APEC bounce………….); seasoned conservative observer David Brooks of the New York Times summed it up perfectly on the Newshour with Jim Lehrer,
DAVID BROOKS: Listen, I don’t think he’s (Obama’s) losing. I still think the McCain campaign is basically like a football team with a weak offensive line. They have pulled off some good razzle-dazzle plays to stay close, but the fundamentals are so terribly against them, I still think it’s very unlikely McCain is going to win.

Palin for PoTUS, I say, Michael Palin, that is.
The world would feel more comfortable with Michael Palin than Sarah.
Thomas Paine, the world doesn’t matter in US elections, only US citizens vote. And at this stage, she resonates well with them, whereas Obama is worrying about the price of arugula.
Aristotle,
The Dems problem is that while they have been playing 50 State strategy, the Republicans have been working on “How do we win enough ECVs to get over the line”. Are the Dems ready for a hand to hand contest?
I don’t think so.
If Sarah Palin was the Democrat VP nominee her current supporters would be ripping her to shreds. They would find her nomination indefensible and irresponsible. Her vote winning attribute for a number of Americans is simply to be a female redneck.
Her interview was simply awful and again if she were Democrat her current supporters would be highlighting her ineptitude, ignorance and potential danger as an accidental President.
I could live with a McCain victory with a standard VP but the choice of Palin is criminally negligent.

Spare us the confected anger. What is criminally negligent is that Senator Obama is the most liberal presidential candidate in history.
