Nailing the Ten Toed Demographic

Via Tim Dunlop on twitter comes this gem – Turnbull’s latest youtube vid on his reasons for opposing the stimulus package. This is the intro screen:

Can someone explain that to me? “10 little toes from Mum and Dad….” ?!?

The ten toed demographic is pretty big and all (please, no Tassie jokes), but that’s just flat out weird.

This is the complete vid:

UPDATE:

And while we’re on the whole political WTF theme, Bob Hawke like you’ve never seen him before at Grods.

WTF is that?!?

UPDATE 2:

Thanks to ChrisinLdn in comments, check out the similar ad the Tories have been running in Britain.

.. and those ten little toes copped house prices 3x higher than they should be, and a worsening climate outlook thanks to Howard and Dubya’s inaction, and lots of other sets of little toes in Iraq who lost their lives or their parents in an illegal invasion.

It is also discriminatory to Australians with some form of dactyly. It too few or too many digits.

How well do they think a stern lecture by an arrogant man who ‘knows better’ than us will go over? Where’s my $950??

But the December “cash splash” did have a significant, positive effect.

    Truffles is telling porkies. Again.

Some sort of time and brain warp with the Libs?
“You can’t afford Labor” FFS the campaign’s over – you lost.
I thought putting on the frighteners, when it didn’t work in Nov 07 as the Govt, could easily work in reverse for themselves when in Opposition. From where they’re standing the fear factor is, at best, a non-starter – at worst, be seen as spoilt brats not serious about giving the Govt of the day some assistance in this crisis.
“Mums and Dads” still getting a guernsey I see. Nothing’s changed. What a bunch of mugs.

Why the hell are the Liberals putting this stuff on Youtube anyway? The demographic that is going to take notice of such ads aren’t sitting at a web-browser typing “Malcolm Turnbull” into the Youtube search box, and the demographic that /does/ use Youtube has no interest in them whatsoever.

Hell, I’m spend the greatest part of my waking hours staring at a computer screen and still I wouldn’t have even seen these ads if they hadn’t been brought up on political blogs.

Once again, the Liberal party shows that it’s clueless when it comes to the Internet. You can’t just dump ads onto Youtube and expect them to be effective.

Using the latest sterling/aus dollar conversion the Brits owe $38,065.38 each. Rudd, at $9500m is just not trying.

I trust that Labor will never let the public forget what the Miserable Liberals did to our kids with SerfChoices.

BOB HAWKE: What opportunity has a young kid, boy or girl, going for employment, being presented with a fait accompli contract? What opportunity have they got? And what can happen now is that all these things that have become part of the Australian way of life - the concept of public holidays, paid public holidays, the concept that if you work over normal hours you will get penalties for overtime - all those rights are going to be taken away.

Remember, they wanted to go further with this … and no doubt would if they ever got back into power.

Because they don’t have to pay.
