PS Would whoever’s editing “Punch” mind either indenting the first few words of each paragraph or inserting line breaks between them? The formatting of this piece was abysmal.

Another one they don’t get over at BoltHades is “troll”. Repeatedly you see the thinking that a “troll” is someone who doesn’t agree with the majority over there and/or who is a member of teh Evil Left (rather than as someone posting for the sake of sensation or to cause confusion).

Are these dead tree journos giving the same weight to a “letter to the editor” and an instinctive incoherent bandwagon responses to dog whistles? It’s easy to manipulate the number of “bloggers” [sic] who respond to bait, leave a stinking pile there to attract corpse flies and dung beetles. Isn’t there a standard against which we can measure the value of the response? The number alone is nigh on meaningless. 700 online comments? 700 different IP addresses? I doubt it.
