We love having you comment here at Pure Poison but it’s a little bit difficult for discussion to continue uninterrupted on specific posts when off-topic comments land in the middle of them. Hi guys,

Take a look at this link

    http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/28816321/the_great_american_bubble_machine

I just thought that everyone will find it interesting and something to talk about. Matt Taibbi looks into the role that Goldman Sachs have played in market manipulation. Wonder if the issue it out here at the stands.

Also, if you get a chance, have a look at Jesse Ventura. This guy is really eloquent and has the ability to cut through on key points.

Here are his views on Waterboarding (the blond chick is a republican stooge who tries to give him all the republican talking points)

and here he takes down Dick Cheney

hey Rob: are you enjoying the cricket? I fell asleep during play last night because the commentary is as boring as batshit – talk about soporific! tonight i’m going to mute the TV and have the ABC on instead.

confessions – The commentary is worse than listening to K-rock when Geelong are down by 200 points (apologies to those north of the Barassi line). When the Aussies were gettnig wickets the other night they did not say a word.

I bet they were quiet when Punter and Katich were piling the runs on.

More hypocrisy – Julie Bishop, today claiming that Rudd must do more for Mr Hu because he’s an Australian citizen.

Two words Bishop – ‘David Hicks’. Hypocrisy is rife in politics!

Hey confessions, I’m loving it but i have the same problem, about 11pm my eyes shut automatically so I have to dream the rest of the days pay.

Ponting and kattich did a good job, as did the English tail, the signs are good for an entertaining series.

ABC has Geoffrey Boycott, he’s of questionable character imo. I generally just turn the volume down and do my own brand of foul mouthed, ignorant commentry – try it, it’s fulfilling ;)

yeah, I noticed that too. At least the channel 9 commentary (bill lawry esp) can manage some excitement when the opposition is scoring runs or taking wickets, but ‘Athers’ and nassa hussein go into some kind of deep depression. And when did botham get knighted?

Rob: i don’t mind geoff boycott as a commentary – at least he has a go!

Bolt compares the G8 leaders to King Canute trying to stop the tide with regards to capping a 2 degree increase in temperatures.

But hang on… Global warming is not happening according to Bolt. So which is it? If it is in fact not warming then the politicians are all going to be correct and things are sweet. So why attack them? Boltworld is a truely amazing place.

    Hello Rob and Confessions,

The cricket has been very entertaining, the commentary on SBS — not so good so I’m also muting it and listening to the ABC, (I’ll forgive them Boycott, I reckon he’s not a bad commentator). I reckon these 2 sides are very evenly matched.

Botham was knighted in 2007, confessions for his work in raising money for various charities, I think mainly to do with kids with cancer and leukemia.

You’re right Gavin, Botham has devoted a lot of his time to charity.

I’m finding it hard to choose which team to barrack for, they’re well matched, I’ll cheer for the Aussies for the first session tonight, unless of course wickets start to rain. :D

Rob: I heard turnbull carrying on about Hu and rudd needing to ring china blah, blah, bhal, and the first thing i thought of was David Hicks. There’s also Vivienne Solon and Cornelia Rau to add to the list of hypocrisy. Given Bishop was part of a government that perpetuated these things against these australians, what i wonder does she have to say about it now? If the fucking media did its job properly and asked her/turnbull instead of just robotically reporting everything they say without question, they wouldn’t be able to play these silly little games.

    Best. Para. EVAH:

If you wonder why Fox News’ newscasters all look like porn-stars, or why batshit homophobes like Ann Coulter retain a following, or Carrie Prejean becomes an instant star, don’t forget the starbursts factor. Steve Chapman finally says the obvious. John McCain picked Sarah Palin because he was a) desperate, b) has no integrity, c) cares much more about his career than national security, and d) couldn’t take his eyes off her boobs.

this is the palin syndrome summed up perfectly: if she looked like Susan Boyle there’s no way she’d have gotten to the positions she occupied. I’d also add the chk-chk-BOOM girl as well, esp when you consider who her biggest boosters were.

What is it with the right and always preferring the superficial over substance?

Lol Rob, I wish I had your flexibility here, having no ties to England, I have to stick with the Aussies no matter what they do…

I had to laugh to myself when Ponting and Katich got their hundreds though, yesterday morning on SEN, Rodney Hogg was confidently stating that no-one would score a ton in this test — shows what happens when you let a bloke who was about a number 13 standard batsman comment on batting I guess ;)

“Lol Rob, I wish I had your flexibility here, having no ties to England, I have to stick with the Aussies no matter what they do…”

Nah, you can barrack for whoever you want :) But being welsh barracking for the Aussies over the English is a no-brainer for me, but in cricket I have a dilema, it really is the England/Wales Cricket team. This year though, there are no Welshies playing in the Ashes.

The qustions in the Aussie media about why are they playing in Cardiff are pissing me off, these guys who commentate should realise that Wales is included in the English Criket team, why shouldn’t they paly in Cardiff?

Who did you barrack for when the Wallabies and the French played recently (Rugby Union, you may not care about the game they play in heaven, but having lived in France you may)

I would have barracked for the French because I thought they’d win after beating the All Blacks – I was wrong……..AGAIN! I’m glad gambling doesn’t appeal to me.

Pretty much the only teams I would support every single time are Chelsea, Bulldogs and Wales.

FTR – I enjoy watching sport I see it as fun, I don’t take it seriously, it’s a game, it’s entertainment (that proves I’m not a Collingwood supporter).

I reckon its great that they’re playing in Cardiff too Rob, take the game to as many places as possible I say :)

Unfortuneately I suspect half the Australian media would struggle to know where Cardiff is let alone know that Wales is part of English cricket — morons :P

I’d forgotten you’re a Welshman – no wonder you’re hooked on Rugby, I’m not a big follower of the game but I do always barrack for the Wallabies — what can I say ? I guess I’m a rusted on Aussie yobbo ;)

I’m glad I’m not a gambler too though – I’d be a very broke one.

Lol, I’m with you about watching sport, (Collingwood supporters are a breed of their own), particularly the Olympics and Commonwealth Games as well, I love them and overnight I become an armchair expert at sports I see once every 2 to 4 years.

Urban dictionary has a new phrase:

    Pullin’ a Palin
    1. Quitting when the going gets tough; abandoning the responsibility entrusted to you by your neighbors for book advances and to make money on the lecture circuit.

    2. Bizarre move that will damn ambitions for higher office.

I bet when people saw Jade they were convinced that David Caruso was pullin’ a Palin.

I still do not follow what Mungo man is about. Your third possibility is just that, a possibility. They could also of interbred, but their genes where inferior and died out naturally.

Even if a new wave of people did carry out a genocide they did it on what technically is not a modern human. So even if you accept your unproven third hypotheses you could still call them first Australians as mungo man is not a Homo sapien.

But really both you and I are just playing silly semantic games over the term first Australian. I cannot see any point to this exercise except to somehow denigrate or lesson the heritage of Indigenous Australians.

    Gav & Rob,

I always love watching Wales play in the world cup.

So fucking gutsy, they play with such passion and with no fear. Unfortunately they often seem to run out of steam about halfway through!

And unlike the poms, they don’t generally play a kicking game (yawn)

Check out this link, for some bloody amazing rugby (and a bloody awful soundtrack!)

Couldn’ give a toss about the cricket though…God its boring. Almost as bad as tennis.
