Andrew Bolt, two weeks ago:
Against my self-perceived duty to allow as free a discussion as possible, there is my ego and my self-interest in protecting my reputation.
Andrew Bolt’s site, today:
![]()
When it comes to the possibility of traffic leaving his web site, it seems Andrew’s “ego and self-interest” trump his “self-perceived duty”.
To be clear – I did not make that comment and do not know who did. I do not know whether the link was to Pure Poison or another site. And I do not care that we do not get page views – which translates into advertising revenue – if links to our site are removed by Bolt or his moderators. But I do find it ironic that someone who claims to value debate and frank discussion assigns a higher priority to ensuring that his own readers aren’t given direct access to the web site of someone who apparently disagrees with him.

I saw that post early on and yes the link was to this site. Interesting Andrew’s concern for reputations doesn’t extent to others as our disscusion in the weekend talk thread shows.
Are you 100% sure a Bolt moderator actually “snipped” or is there a chance the poster made it look that way?
So surly saw the link. I suppose it isn’t that difficult for PP to check if any hits came from the link while it stood…
I’m not accusing you of anything, Tobby, but this post is beginning to smell a tad fishy.
Ha! Pwned! Yes I saw that too, um, Tobby. I’m getting the distinct impression there’s a bit goin orn behind the scenes in the marbled halls of FixNews.
I noticed yesterday he had yet ANOTHER reference to Obama the boy president then subsequently the “boy” bit got removed.
I’d LOVE to be a fly on the wall at one of their staff meetings.
Bolt is going to get a lot of his traffic slamming into a dead-end when Murdoch starts charging for content. Then again, maybe his stuff’ll be free … because, let’s face it, who’d pay for it?
Pedro stretches the limits of credulity ( and exposes his own desperate need to hit on PP) with the ludicrous suggestion that the Bolt Moderators would have published a “snip for traffic stealing” created by a commentator.
Bolt is once again being hypocritical, Pedro. Just grow up and wear it.
“But I do find it ironic that someone who claims to value debate and frank discussion assigns a higher priority to ensuring that his own readers aren’t given direct access to the web site of someone who apparently disagrees with him.”
Like most right-wingers, Bolta supposes that free speech only applies if the speaker agrees with him.
Ask Jonathon Green about an incident either earlier this year or last year where Bolt smeared Green and then deleted any attempt GReen made at linking to Crikey to explain.
Childishness, utter childishness! And bolt wonders why he turns up on Hungry Beast! LOL!!!
Offensive or otherwise abusive comments never appeared at Bolt’s before this blog. Get your facts staright.
Don’t you have to own something for it to be stolen?
Pedro
Are you doubting me? How much proof do you need sunshine, I find the implication that I would lie simple offensive.
“Offensive or otherwise abusive comments never appeared at Bolt’s before this blog. Get your facts staright.” PARDON, I beg to differ, I have been reading Andrew long before PP appeared and I can tell you it was just as bad, if not worse.

SS, I think John Winston’s post was an attempt at humour.
As J. Walter Weatherman would say: “And that’s why you always use the sarcasam tag.”
Does any one know when the next “Wear a purple ribbon cos Andrew Bolt is a dickhead day” is? I would like to see at least three of them a year and would also like some time to organise a couple of hundred free purple ribbons. FDOTM?
Twobob, every day’s Dickhead Day.
Do you wear a purple ribbon everyday monkeywrench?
Its probably a good idea but it might clash on occasion with what I’m wearing and that would upset my daughter!
Does someone want to explain how you can “steal” web traffic without automatically redirecting users to another page/site without viewing the said original page?
Nigel
I will stand corrected but have my doubts
