I agree with Rob, you’re all fine folk – except Tobby, I have a fear of intelligent, articulate men with beards.

Am I right in saying that Bolt totally AGREES with Barnaby Joyce on Climate Change, but totally DISAGREES with him over the Dam decision for South East Queensland?

LGF’s Charles Johnson on why he doesnt align with the Right these days: (my bold)

But the main reason I can’t march along with the right wing blogosphere any more, not to put too fine a point on it, is that most of them have succumbed to Obama Derangement Syndrome. One “nontroversy” after another, followed by the outrage of the day, followed by conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory, all delivered in breathless, angry prose that’s just wearying and depressing to read.

It’s not just the economic issues either. I’ve never been on board with the anti-science, anti-Enlightenment radical religious right. Once I began making my opinions known on issues like creationism and abortion, I realized that there just wasn’t very much in common with many of the bloggers on the right.

He doesn’t know it, but he’s just described the writings of bolt, blair, ackerman, albrechtsten, devine and just about every rightwing columnist here in Australia. Lately the Right here are becoming increasingly deranged with conspiracy theories about one world governments, climate change as an updated version of communism, and fringe lunacy about electricity prices. If i were a rightwinger there’s no way I’d want to be aligned with that kind of idiocy either.

    Confessions,

I was amazed when I was first made aware of LGF’s change of ‘heart’ a few months ago, but I suppose if you truly believe in the science of Climate Change, well that MUST trump your anti-muslim (and other related) attitudes.

Simply because one of these issues is a danger to the WHOLE planet, whereas the other is only a danger to segments of the world.

Fox news pwned again by Jon Stewart:

Jon Stewart, the host of “The Daily Show,” presented excerpts from a segment of Mr. Hannity’s show in which he discussed the so-called tea party protests in Congress last Thursday with Representative Michele Bachmann, a Republican from Minnesota who had urged supporters to turn up at the Capitol to protest the health care bill.

Beyond questioning the crowd estimates cited by Mr. Hannity, Mr. Stewart demonstrated that the Fox News program had included several scenes of the crowd, one of which he conclusively proved had not been shot the day of the health care protest but at the much larger tea party protest in Washington last summer.

This is on top of the clip in the post above, and on top of Stewart’s exposing how Fox use their own opinion as ‘news’.

And LOL at Andy who reckons our TV stations “need to get more Foxy.” Facts and accurracy just aren’t important to some people. Imagine the howls of protest if CNN or MSNBC were caught out doing this.

What was with this post by Bolt:
    http://blogs.news.com.au/heraldsun/andrewbolt/index.php/heraldsun/comments/scores_may_be_settled_with_rudd/

Why on earth would he bother to go back over all that information for no reason other than to have a go at Rudd? Only to have to apologise in update 4.

dam buster: see my post @ 43 as to where it came from.

The Australian has still not put back it’s section on ‘climate’. Why would they take it down given the ETS is about to be re-introduced to the senate – climate change is very topical now.

    WTF?!

A Northern Territory magistrate has told a court that bashed Aboriginal women in Katherine have faces "like a squashed tomato".

Magistrate Alisdair McGregor made the comments in sentencing an Aboriginal man who kicked his partner in the face while both were in the back of a police wagon.

He said the man and woman were put in the back of the police wagon after being found drunk and despite a domestic violence order against the man.

    *face – palm*

    Bolt rants:

“FORGIVE me for having been so selfish when I wrote how angry I was at Kevin Rudd’s wild attack on me. ”

In my opinion Bolt has made a career out of bagging and attacking others, indeed he has had a defamation finding against him. Someone has a go at him and he has to write a blog about it, and start a email writing campaign. Funny thing is he’s only got 1 300 emails, considering he brags about his million hits 1 300 doesn’t seem very many.

In my opinion, on this matter Bolt is being very hypocritical and he’s acting like a child. I wouldn’t have thought that a thin skin wouldn’t be much of useful a trait for a shock columnist.

Having said that if Rudd actually believed that humans were driving climate change he’d do something about it, ie he WOULD NOT PANDER to the coal lobby.

Interesting that there hasn’t been a fuss made about this apology:

On Monday the Prime Minister will lead the parliament in apologising to the ‘Forgotten Australians’, people who were placed in institutional or foster care up until the early 1970’s. Many of the children suffered horrific physical and sexual abuse at the hands of their carers.

Apart from last nights 730 report i can find no mention of it in other media, much, much different from the other apology the PM gave. I wonder how many coalition MPs will absent themselves from parliament that day in protest? And just to remind ourselves of the rantings of our most strident anti apology columnist, a select pickings of why Australia shouldn’t of apologised for ‘rescuing’ stolen aboriginals.

Far from resolving anything, Rudd’s sorry is now being used for what I suspect was its real purpose - as a political weapon and an instrument to divide us not just on the grounds of race, but of a trumped up scale of “sensitivity” - which in this case winnows out the rational and demonises them.

    No more sorries.

We should not be saying this

Yet not a word about this latest group, no mention at all. One can only assume this latest apology is acceptable.

The only difference between the two instances as far as I can tell is one group is black.

The Liberals court the xenophobe vote.

The Federal Opposition has committed to bringing back a temporary visa for asylum seekers coming to Australia by boat.
