Is there an RSS feed for the podcast? I want to add it to Google Reader so I can play it on Google Listen. Do I need to sign up to podbean to subscribe to the feed?

There is an RSS feed for the podcast. If you go to the podbean page in the “streaming” link you should be able to find it. You don’t need to sign up to podbean, we just use them as a host.

Awesome, thanks Dave. I look forward to listening to it on my funky new smart phone! (I’m a late adopter)

I’m not saying that Caroline Overington leaving Media Diary had anything to do with my comments on this week’s podcast.

    Another cracker of a podcast.

    Thanks, guys :-)

I think I can say my mobile phone is more retro than anyone else’s. There can’t be too many 5110s still running on vodafone’s network. My next one, when I eventually do replace it, will probably be running iOS (in the apple sense). But until then, it’ll continue to get the astonished attention of random people who haven’t even seen one in years, let alone one that’s still actually being used!

But the battery is dying (it’s the second one – I replaced the original NiMH battery with a lithium battery about 5 years ago – my phone is like granpa’s axe). And somebody showed me a little to-do app this week that’s pretty much sold me.

I’m listening to the last bit of the podcast, and I nearly snorted up a lung at the “prostate” comment.

I have what I call my “barbecue test”. I like to ponder whether any given politician is somebody I might like if I met them at a barbecue. I even have a regular barbecue setting in mind. It’s an interesting experiment, because it tends to re-humanize the subjects, and I sometimes surprise myself with my conclusions. I’ve actually decided that I don’t necessarily have to like the people I’d vote for.

Well … apparently there’s a guy out there who does the same thing with a prostate exam. That guy needs help. How on EARTH did he come up with that? Moreover … how the hell was it relevant to a discussion on media regulation?

The question remains, though – who would YOU trust to check your prostate? Tony abbott? Bob brown? (I admit – being an actual doctor does win him a few easy points in this test). Would anyone here trust terry mccrann to check their prostate? (I had to stop and laugh for a bit after re-reading that).

Girls – is there an equivalent sort of mental check for the non-prostated? Is it even conceivable that some lass is watching the news one night, sees malcolm turnbull and thinks “yeah, I’d really trust him with my pap smear”.

I’m sorry. I gotta stop writing this. I’m starting to find it hard to see the keyboard now …
