The sort of inanities The Age is publishing between bouts of vacuous “leadership speculation”:
- A city divided
Which side of the Yarra you live on speaks volumes – or does it? Natalie Craig finds out.
- Welcome to the Hotel California, you can check it out any time, but you won’t be pleased
IT sits next to one of Melbourne’s most exclusive schools in one of the city’s most exclusive suburbs.
But the black shadecloth and expensive address cannot hide the bombsite that is the former California Hotel.
It does still call itself a “news”paper.

To be fair(fax), it IS the Sunday Age, it’s been abominable pap for nearly as long as I can remember
The one thing that has driven me to give up on the weekend papers are those nasty cartoons by Spooner. Why Fairfax insists on insulting their readership by publishing that sort of crap in a climate of declining circulation is really beyond me.. If people wanted that sort of tripe they’d buy The Oz or The Hun. What is it about “lefties” not appealing to thjier base and trying to win over people who always have and always will hate them? It’s really the stuff of self flagellation, the ALP do it relentlessly too. When are people going to be proud enough to stand up and declare that they’re a bloody lefty and stop apologising for it?
