A new low for “journalism”
“Intellectual dishonesty is pure poison…” — Edward Lazarus
We expose the intellectual dishonesty, the flimsy arguments and the distorted data wherever they appear in the mainstream media. We challenge the punditocracy, and provide an alternative forum for discussing the day’s events. We welcome debate about politics and society, but constructive debate needs to be based on reason and facts. We’re doing our bit to hold the opinion-makers to these standards.

Journalism is utterly in the ditch…no wonder people are given equal credence to blogs, they can’t be trusted..
CNN was scouring the streets for people who hadn’t heard of the death just for their reactions…F retarded..
Reminds me of a week or so ago when I had Weekend Today on in the background while I surfed the net: they played a 911 call made by some celebrity’s kid for that celebrity (I don’t remember who it was, maybe Demi Moore). The hosts then went on to talk about how it was wrong to release/play the tape to the public.
Now, I realise that the hosts don’t necessarily get a say in what actually features on the show, that the decision to play the tape was made by the show’s producers, but the contrast between how they introduce the segment with baited breath and then present faux outrage afterwards is quite jarring.
Hang on. Wasn’t she in the bath? Surely that means there were some discarded clothes on the floor. So …? Pics? HELLO!?!?!?
Um… Aliar, can I point you in the direction of the Joe Hildebrand thread? I think it’s well established now that ‘Retarded’ isn’t really acceptable.
Established by whom?
I’ll pass, in this instance my comment is accurate and in no way offensive to people who are intellectually disabled..if anything i should have said ‘psychotic’ but it’s unclear why anyone who thinks ‘vox pop’ reactions to actual news in the street constitutes journalism of any kind is actually medically deficient or psychologically unbalanced.
At first glance I thought this was another entry in Bolt’s “photos of the elitist meal I am eating” readers competition. Particularly as it included a can of Holland’s finest.
Well established by people who care about whether careless language offends. Obviously you don’t. Carry on.
with bated breath … (aphetic for (archaic) abated)
Thanks certainly will.
Fran – perhaps halitosis? It must be hard on the autonomous body when it has to support the vicious/banal idiocy in which the bit on the top continues to indulge.
