tip off

What’s the connection bw Dave and Jeremy leaving Crikey and Fairfax editors quitting?

Jeremy (from Victoria) and Dave (from NSW) announce that they’re leaving Crikey at the end of the week.

Suddenly the editors of The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald both quit.

Coincidence? We’d love to tell you, but we can’t. Yet.

UPDATE: An old friend thinks they might be after him, instead.

    eggsellent!
Well I suppose the fact that you cant tell us yet tells us quite a bit.
I take it that a deal of some sort is in the pipeline but the contracts are yet to be finally nutted out and agreed to.
This bodes wonderfully for the sort of exposure that you guys truly deserve and if what I suspect is going to happen actually happens this bodes wonderfully for Australians in general and the Australian media in particular. I absolutely promise that I will support you both through either paying a subscription or through a donation.

Well, we haven’t heard anything from Fairfax, but we have to assume that they’re preparing offers.

I suppose it could be a coincidence, though that seems unlikely.

    You guys are shameless teases!

To thicken the plot a little… the same day the fairfax 3 walked, I saw a tweet from crikey advertising for a subby.

    Aha!!

I reckon Dave and Jeremy are planning to go out with a bang not a whimper.

Expect something big by the weekend.

    :)

Ha Ha, nice try Jeremy. We already know that Bolt will be the Commander/Editor in Chief of a combined Age/SMH news desk that provides more “Gina” balance to the news.

    You are morphing into Bolt.

It’s what you/he does not tell us, that reveals the truth!

Actually, in all seriousness, I think this is a general criticism.

I have never seen anyone who criticies ALL sides of politics.

Is that the nature of humanity? Everything revolves around the clash between sides? Leaving no room for TRUE balance?

    savvas,

Alan Ramsay used to attack everyone. I can’t think of a contemporary example, though.

Aha! Two editors left because they need to give Andy a double plus sized office. Can’t you see?
