Paper bottles and old-growth logging

Today’s pick of the green news:
The paper bottle. In response to the millions of plastic water bottles thrown away each day, a company called Brandimage has created a completely renewable bottle, made from paper. Of course, there’s no guarantee anyone would actually recycle these either, but it would be certainly easier on landfill.

Waiting for the white smoke to emerge…

We wait with bated breath for the white smoke to emerge from the hallowed halls. Well, at least the white paper about emissions. It’s the numbers that are the interesting part. Will Rudd listen to Garnaut? Or the Climate Scientists? Or will he listen to the shrill cries from Woodside, Xstrata and the other big [...]

Global warming has its perks, just ask Russia

Our pick of the day’s green news:
Solar-panel factory to close. Australia’s largest solar-panel factory, BP Solar, will close early next year to “cut costs”. Both the Greens and the opposition have criticised the government over the closure, saying it is a sign of the lack of government support for Australia’s solar industry.
