Water and food shortages predicted. A new report by the US’s National Intelligence Council predicts that by the year 2025, the area from northern China to sub-Saharan Africa will have to deal with droughts and food shortages, reports MSNBC. “The report is meant to help U.S. administrations think strategically and long-term about potential future trends and how they should be dealt with.”
Scientists discover extinct penguins, 500 years after the fact. Researchers in New Zealand have found a previously unknown species of penguin that disappeared about 500 year ago, reports Live Science. They believe the species died out due to competition from the now-endangered yellow-eyed penguin.
