Coal reserves low? The world’s coal reserves could be far lower than earlier estimates, reports Wired. If it’s true, it could affect CO2 emission predictions, because we may simply not have the coal to burn.

Solar system reaches grid parity. An analyst is claiming that a solar power system in Nevada has reached grid parity, says Greentech Media, producing electricity below the cost of regular power in the US.

EU finalise climate change plans. The EU has established it’s plans for tackling climate change, aiming for a reduction in carbon emissions of 20% below 1990 levels by 2020: ” ‘Happily Bush is going,’ said European Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas. ‘Everybody knows what Mr. Obama has set as priorities — energy security and climate change.’ ” Heh.

    Fantastic photo – sadly not really about us being “rooted” – it’s a photo from a volcanic eruption in Chile which corresponded with some interesting eruption-related lightning (who knew?).
