Nourishing the environmental debate

From Kevin 07 to Coalmine 09

The front page of the Oz revealed today that advertising guru Neil Lawrence has moved seamlessly from Kev to coal. The architect of the Kevin07 campaign is going to be lending his creative services to the coal industry in their attempts to extract even more public subsidies from the Government in order to avoid having to do anything about climate change.

The coal industry can afford to buy the best in the business – if their swindle comes off they stand to gain up to $10 billion in extra handouts over the next decade, in addition to the public subsidies they already receive. A few ads in marginal seats is a small price to pay to get that kind of windfall.  No wonder Kev is nervous about anything that will impact big coal – regardless of the cost on the community and the climate. Money talks – and it leads to dirty deals. Check out www.dirtykev.org

I have a solution to climate change: take your medication, try to find an all-consuming hobby that has no intersection with any aspect of the environment and attempt to judge your demise correctly. The aim is to extract the maximum schadenfreude from the mayhem experienced by the damage humanity has brought on itself while remaining apart from it all, carking at the moment of maximum satisfaction. A sort of rapture for the atheist greenie.

Rudd at a student venue in Pittsburgh today was nauseous for his ’save the planet’ hypocrisy. Australia the dirty coal merchant pretending it’s all for REDUCTION in global emissions. Like when? 2200? He’s Kevin “science” Rudd, meant in an ironic way. Clark and Dawe nailed him on 7.30 last night as a chancer after ‘two free members ticket passes to the big table’ being an AFL grand final allusion. The two free tickets coming from firstly China who want our coal and USA who need all the friends they can get.

Rudd’s govt can’t even protect living green carbon, let alone reduce coal fired emissions here or globally. The truth is the ALP have NO CREDIBILITY when it comes to actual reduction in carbon emissions as opposed to tricky, complex cap and trade corporate welfare.

One feels sure one person our dear PM won’t be chumming up to while in the USA is Noam Chomsky, because our Rudd would by juxtaposition appear the moral and intellectual PYGMY that he really is. A great actor maybe, but a values pygmy all the same.
