7pm US EST/10am Oz EST – Well, as I predicted yesterday, Joe the Plumber has disappeared. The McCain campaign’s ability to vanish him was truly impressive. He was even set to appear with McCain at a ‘joe the plumber rally’ last night but the thing went on with no Joe. Now comes news that he’s received a Nashville country music recording deal. Of course. And not a buy off by any means.
As a subsitute they found Tito the Builder, a Latin American immigrant, who is a McCain supporter, and owns a construction services company. He too clears less than a quarter million, which means he’d benefit from the Obama plan, which is a problem for the McCainiacs. However since Tito never gets to speak much - he stands in the background in Builder outfit like his brother the other famous ‘The Builder’ – that matters less.
Why did Tito get involved? ‘I was so disgusted with the attacks on Joe the Plumber by the media, lloking at his life. Man all he did was say something – that’s against the first amendment’
Well, actually, that’s the spirit and letter of the first amendment, Tito. The capacity to rip into whoever you want. What you’re thinking of as a preferred system is closer to Peronism or similar, where the pointy-headed media could be prosecuted for ‘insulting Argentine values’. Wasn’t that the sot of thing you were coming from?
Rashed Khalidi is the third new figure on the circuit today, in name only. A Columbia professor and Palestiinian activist, he’s a friend of Obama’s and also of Bill Ayers. Conservative magazines have been banging on about this for ages, but FOX news was too lazy and crazy to actually pursue this new angle on ‘Obama’s shady past’.
Now it transpires there’s a video of a birthday party – good god – at which Obama blows Khalidi, sorry bestows blessings etc on Khalidi, which th LA Times owns, but won’t release because they promised the source they wouldn’t.
McCain referred to it today, but with the air of a dog nosing a long-dead bird. The National Review etc et al despair and gnash their teeth at McCain’s refusal to completely once again sidetrack his campaign through the koolaid factory.
Walnuts McCain
Well how crazy can the Republicans get? They’re
