Carlton players go the “rochambeau”

Here at Crikey Sports we are currently digesting the latest news of Carlton’s Setanta O’hAilpin hitting and then kicking team mate Cameron Cloke during an intraclub match today.

Now we’ve watched the video a thousand times (purely for investigative journalistic purposes and not for the perverse enjoyment of seeing Carlton players belt each other) and we’ve come to the conclusion that Setanta O’hAilpin is a South Park fan.

How so?, I hear you ask. Well as Cloke is lying on the ground it appears that O’hAilpin goes the “rochambeau”.

What’s a “rochambeau”?

In times like these we turn to Eric Cartman:

Well how interesting here we have to of the favoured AFL having a figt with a kicking throw in what a joke,on outrage just a boys will be boys, sweep it under the carpet ect,bet you if it was 2 rugby League players, this column and and the sports writers would have been incandescent with rage, say how terrible it was ect ect.

Setanta often appears to be close to losing control on the field. He seems to have geniune issues with anger, unlike some sportspeople that go in for a lot of “Alpha Male” (sexist? Alpha Person perhaps?) posturing. That makes him a dangerous guy.

Not sure that is a fair comment John. Setanta has been indefinitely suspended, and one of the most violent players of all time, David Rhys-Jones, has called for him to be sacked. The incident has been reported on extensively, with video footage, seemingly everywhere that the AFL is covered. Is that really “sweeping it under the carpet”?
