Not another AFL sex scandal: what this means for St Kilda, the AFL and footy clinics

The St Kilda football club is in damage control over claims that that a “schoolgirl became pregnant after having sex with two Saints players she met at a school football clinic.”

What a mess.

And it’s St Kilda again. What would the Saints have given to remain scandal free this year following the Andrew Lovett saga.

It probably means three things.

  1. The media will go berserk. For example, The Age is already reporting on what mega popular footy forum Big Footy is saying — or to be perfectly correct what the posters are saying. To get really twilight zone you can read here what Big Footy is saying about what The Age is saying what Big Footy is saying. Fun isn’t it?
  2. Footy clinics hosted by AFL clubs are in immediate danger of beingĀ  scrapped unless the AFL does something.
  3. Which means the players in questions are in trouble even though, as questionable as it is, the sex was consensual and between adults of legal age.

The footy clinics angle is probably the most interesting. They are so important to the AFL — any sport in fact. There’s going to be a lot of schools and community groups who are going to be up in arms over the actions of the Saints players and their future involvement with school children.

What a mess.

To quote Harry Kewell 30 seconds ago on ABC news: “there’s been a lot of speculation about my groin”.

where is John Clark now that we need him?

Sex scandals involving politicians can become political scandals, particularly when there is an attempt at a cover-up, or suspicions of illegality. Thanks.

So not enough evidence to convict Andrew Lovett? I bet there was some though, not enough for reasonable doubt but perhaps for some doubt. Interesting how some evidence was not presented.
