Western Downs photo essay (and more to come)

'Blockies' showing us DERM maps of CSG sites on the estates outside Tara

FAQ Research folks have spent the week so far on the Western Downs, based in Dalby but ranging widely around the district; talking to farmers, politicians, Indigenous folk, ‘Blockies’ and others. We’ve been shooting pictures and compiling video, and after post-production, we’ll be uploading some rich and, we think, fascinating content from back in Brisbane next week.

Unfortunately, it’s a bit difficult using laptops in a Dalby motel room to edit pics in Photoshop, and near impossible on the internet speeds available to upload professional quality vision to YouTube.

But, to give everyone a preview of what’s coming, we’ve posted a photo essay on Facebook. It’s a work in progress, with photos being uploaded each morning and evening.

If you go through the gallery, you’ll get an idea of the diversity (and natural beauty) of the region, and an insight into the people we’ve interviewed.

We feel very honoured to have received such hospitality, and found so many folk with interesting stories to tell.

You can see the photo gallery on our Facebook page here.

All photos were shot on mobile phone by FAQ Research’s Pandora Karavan. Pandora has been shooting with a Pentax DSLR, and these images will be edited back in Brissie and posted soon.
