Couldn’t they unemploy three people – Angela Merkel, Jorg Asmussen and Mario Draghi – then change policies to let the rest keep their jobs?

The aftermath of the global financial crisis shows that most of the western world, including the EU and USA, are no longer functionally democratic. We now have Corporatocracy, where we the voters elect politicians, who then obediently follow the orders of the corporations that bankrolled their election, regardless of what they promised us during the campaign. Fraudulent bankers have not been jailed. Taxpayers are forced to bail out their banks instead and if, as in Europe’s case, there is then not enough money left to maintain government jobs, they are sacked.

How long before the reintroduction of serfdom?

@ Socrates, it often amazes me how many apparently rational people in (nominally) democratic countries still believe that elected governments run the nation or the state.
