Fox News is propaganda: Turner

Ted Turner, the founder and former owner of CNN, has attacked Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News as a propaganda outlet for George Bush and a danger to democracy in America. He says media consolidation is one of the biggest problems America faces. Turner said Fox has "dumbed down" the news and has a "very, very disturbing" propensity for superficiality in this time of war.

He said consolidation was strangling the media in the US. Some 90% of cable companies are owned by broadcast networks- making it impossible for new entrants. "Consolidation has made it almost impossible for an independent…. We need to know what’s going on in the world. A little less Hollywood news and a little more hard news would probably be good for our society."
