WORKING women chasing promotion in Britain believe good looks and hard-nosed masculine qualities pay, a poll showed today.
Two-thirds of some 600 women quizzed by the website handbag.com and banking giant Barclays felt attractive, tough-minded females had an easier time climbing the career ladder.
Highlighting the belief that business remains a man’s world, a second survey revealed men in senior posts outnumbered women by more than three to one.
Research for information services firm Experian found women directors were usually working in traditional female industries such as health and social services, but were severely under-represented in other sectors such as finance.
