The questions which I think need to be asked here are whether the air is tested regularly for "particulate matter", how often, and what the results are. Sydney's Town Hall station is already dangerous enough at peak times. With platforms so packed with commuters that there's almost no room to move, it'd just take a brawl to break out or somesuch disturbance and you'd have people tumbling in front of trains. Public servants and politicians alike have seen the passenger figures rising over the years and have known this situation was going to eventuate. That nothing has been done, even now, is a testament to the sheer incompetence of NSW governments of every flavour. Thanks for picking up this story, Trevor.
