Rees boasted that he would stop the spin, but that was five weeks ago, now:
THE Premier, Nathan Rees, has seconded the nephew of the former police minister Paul Whelan, Jack Whelan, into his office on a $262,651 a year salary.
Having boasted about cutting back on spin, axing media advisers and getting rid of the highly paid pair of former Channel Nine figures John Choueifate and Adam Walters, Mr Rees has employed Mr Whelan to advise on “transport issues”, his office confirmed.
The secondment of Mr Whelan, who is normally the director, business co-ordination of road safety and policy at the Roads and Traffic Authority, follows boasts from the Government it had axed the number of media advisers in Mr Rees’s office from 12 to six.
Last week, Rees announced he was seizing control of Railcorp and it seems the first step in this “bold” move has been to appoint another staffer to his office. What the hell for? You keep thinking this government couldn’t get worse but it just goes on and on.
