McDonalds Australia to rollout free wifi

This is good news not just for people who eat at McDonalds but presumably it will put pressure on a range of cafes, bars etc to also offer free wifi. I use a mobile broadband modem so it doesn’t matter to me, which is the other point. I wonder if this signals that the pay-for-use wireless hotspot idea (which is wildly expensive) is not faring so well.

Well it’s ‘free’ but you need to purchase a McDonalds product to sit in there and it’s really slow.

Hmmm..not such a big deal as you may think. Internode offer free hotspots at airports, all cibo espresso, CityLan wireless network in Adelaide (https://hotspot.internode.on.net/coverage/). More useful in Adelaide, not sure about elsewhere. If you have an internode account you get (supposedly) full speed access. Please, no free advertising for McDonalds!!
